I want to make these, but dear America, what is ‘baking mix’? And why are all your recipes made of RIDICULOUS PRE-MADE INGREDIENTS WHICH DON’T EXIST ANYWHERE ELSE?

Forget the Bisquick, people. That shit is ridiculous.
2 cups self rising flour, 2/3 cup buttermilk, 1/3 cup whole milk. Chop cold butter into tiny little chunks, however much you want, whatever, mix that in. I like to pre-melt shortening in a cast iron skillet (if that is your method) before adding it to the mixture, then pour that in and stir it up. A couple of handfuls of shredded cheddar, whatevs. You want garlic in there. You want sea salt. Drop the dough into the cast iron skillet used for melting the shortening, one in the center and then plop the others around it. They will smoosh against each other during baking, making kind of a solid pull-apart biscuit cake. This is what I like. You may prefer to drop the dough onto a greased cookie sheet or something. Fuck if I care.
Bake @ 400 for 20 min, brush your butter/parsley/garlic mixture on top and then suck MY dick.
